Heartburn is a condition of the stomach where the sphincter has a hard time closing thus the stomach acids reflux into the esophagus. This is a painful and uncomfortable condition that may recur and is often triggered by the food we eat and stress. There are many medications and drugs used to treat and control heartburn but some people would like to use organic or natural means to do so.

Many claims have been made to treat or alleviate heartburn with some organic substances or mixtures. Others have even said that it is just a matter of mind over mater and conquering stress to make your heartburn leave. Over the counter medications and drugs can also help in heartburn relief.

Vinegar for Heartburn

There are many suggestions to clear up heartburn. One of these is to take vinegar for heartburn, especially apple cider vinegar. The lower esophageal sphincter is the controller of food that comes into the stomach. It opens when it detects food in the mouth; it closes when there is no food. There are instances when we change our position or the lower esophageal sphincter is lead to believe that there is food in the esophagus it may open. This leads to the entry of acids into the esophagus resulting in heartburn

Vinegar for heartburn can make the lower esophageal sphincter close more tightly because it can sense the acidity of the food we take in such as the vinegar thus it closes the sphincter when the vinegar passes it downwards to the stomach. You can take vinegar for heartburn in a diluted form by mixing it with water.

Some researchers have refuted the idea the vinegar for heartburn is beneficial to the individual suffering from heartburn. They say that the consumption of undiluted vinegar during a heartburn episode or occurrence can do damage to your esophagus because it is as acidic as the stomach acids that are damaging your esophagus. They do stress the point that this is for undiluted vinegar for heartburn relief. They do not explain anything about diluted vinegar for heartburn relief.

Some other people do stress that apple cider vinegar for heartburn relief needs to be diluted. It has been suggested that one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mixed with approximately 250 milliliters of water can be drank slowly to help ease the pain of heartburn. Others have also said that daily intake of apple cider vinegar for heartburn treatment can be advantageous.
